COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado’s Online Elementary Teacher of the Year, Christina Narayan, will throw out the first pitch in recognition of her honor to begin the Wednesday night Sky Sox game against the Salt Lake Bees at Security Service Field.

Narayan, a resident of Colorado Springs, is a kindergarten and first grade teacher for Branson School Online located in Branson. It is a public, online school that serves students in grades K–12.

Narayan was awarded the Online Elementary Teacher of the Year Award by the Colorado Department of Education. She was selected in part because of her vision for supporting the whole child.

According to the award committee, Narayan spends time getting to know her students and their families, and making sure her students feel connected to her, their classrooms and their school. Narayan’s care for her kids extends even into the summer months – at the end of every school year she creates a summer reading plan based on final assessment results so students can continue to achieve new reading levels during the summer.
