Employee tackles suspect, recovers cash and gun

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Subway restaurant, 536 W. Garden of the Gods Road, just before 8 p.m. Monday

According to police, the suspect alledgedly fled south across Garden of the Gods Road after a struggle between a store employee and the suspect. The employee told police a man with a silver handgun demanded cash, left the store where the employee tackled the suspect from behind outside in the parking lot.

All of the money and the handgun were recovered by the employee during the struggle. The employee was not injured.

The suspect was not located after a search of the area.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, wearing a dark coat, black ski mask, brown gloves, and pink glasses.
