COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Regional Braille Challenge was held in Colorado Springs on Friday.
The Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind staged the event, which brought students from all over Colorado and Wyoming. They competed in many academic events, including proofreading, comprehension, and charts and graphs. Students who participated were from all grade levels.
Each test was about 25 minutes long.
There are about 1,000 students who are legally blind in the state. Some were born blind, others have lost their vision over time. The Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind helps these students attain the resources necessary for a fulfilled education.
The students across the country with the highest scores in the competition will compete in the National Braille Challenge in Los Angeles.
