LOCHBUIE, Colo. (AP) — Those poinsettias you see in the store this time of year probably originated in Central America. But there's a good chance they were raised at a greenhouse in Colorado. Tagawa Greenhouses in southern Weld County have been humming all month with workers shipping the holiday favorites to stores. Greenhouse owners say the poinsettia season helps gardening shops stay afloat through the slow winter months. Tagawa Greenhouses say they're working on developing a hardier poinsettia plant to encourage people to buy them without fear they'll turn black before the holiday.
