BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., is one of three finalists to become the next president of Florida State University.

Eric Barron holds a bachelor's degree in geology from Florida State. Last week, he was one of three finalists interviewed by a search panel for the FSU job.

The other finalists are Kevin Bedell, who is the vice provost for research at Boston College, and Steven Leath, who is vice president for research and sponsored programs at the University of North Carolina.

Florida State University's Board of Trustees plans to meet Tuesday to consider recommendations on the candidates.

Barron accepted the director's job at NCAR in May 2008.
