DENVER (AP) — More Colorado ski resorts are opening for the season.

Eldora Mountain Resort and Vail Mountain were offering limited terrain for their first day Friday.

Seven other resorts opened earlier this fall. About the same amount will be opening for the season next week.

Colorado Ski Country USA says skier visits were down 5.5 percent last season during the recession compared with the previous season. The trade group is hoping early snow will get people excited about skiing and snowboarding this season.
