It has been an interesting couple of days in southern Colorado, with some people seeing inches of snow in their yards to a dusting in other places.

With the holidays fast approaching, families are beginning to make plans to be with one another.  But for the families of deployed soldiers, being together at Christmas is impossible.

Prison spokeswoman Katherine Sanguinetti says the alleged murder took place in the cellhouse. Killed was Ronald Ferguson, 50, who was in prison for sexual assault on a child in Arapahoe County, convicted for the crime in 1996. He allegedly had a history of violence in prison, including assault on and threats to other inmates.

A Fort Carson soldier convicted of killing two Colorado Springs residents and critically wounding a fellow soldier has been sentenced. Jomar Falu-Vives was sentenced Thursday to two mandatory life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Police tell FOX21 News mother and father Jesse Lee Kaizen and Amanda Marie Sims were arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempted murder. Police say the crime took place at the couple's home off Bridgewood Lane on July 6, 2009. It's been a four-month investigation to learn the facts.
