DENVER (AP) -- Opponents of federal health care legislation want Colorado voters to block it at the polls.
A proposed ballot measure would bar the state from enforcing the legislation, including a provision that would require most people to buy insurance. Meanwhile, some Republican lawmakers want Attorney General John Suthers to join other states in suing to block the legislation.
Suthers plans to make an announcement Monday afternoon regarding the bill.
Independence Institute president Jon Caldara is leading the effort to block it at the polls. He said the measure would amend the state's constitution to protect people's right to choose their own health care.
Caldara still must collect signatures to get the measure on November's ballot.
