Meteorologist Tim Elbertson outlines some of the expected snowfall totals across Southern Colorado Friday.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A strong cold front pushed across Southern Colorado early Friday morning, bringing with it gusty winds, colder temperatures and a chance of snow.
The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory across much of the region.
The snow is expected to intensify through the late morning and early afternoon hours as some upper-level energy rolls across Colorado, creating wintry travel conditions between Colorado Springs and Denver and points west.
In terms of snowfall, this storm should follow a very similar pattern as compared to the one that moved through last Sunday. A stiff wind out of the northeast will push all the moisture and colder air up against the foothills, and that's where we expect to see the highest snowfall amounts.
Generally speaking, here's what we're expecting through late Friday night:
Colorado Springs (Downtown): 2-4 inches
Colorado Springs (North of Briargate, Rockrimmon, Manitou Springs): 4-8 inches
Monument Hill / Black Forest / Calhan: 6-10 inches
Woodland Park / Cripple Creek / Teller County: 6-10 inches
Pueblo / Pueblo West: 2-4 inches
Canon City: 3-5 inches
La Junta / Las Animas / Lamar: 2-4 inches
Walsenburg / Trinidad: 4-8 inches
Rye / Beulah / Colorado City: 10-14 inches
Raton Pass / La Veta Pass: 12-20 inches
