Drunk 15-year-old caught for hit-and-run crash

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- An unlicensed, drunk 15-year-old boy was caught by Colorado Springs police officers after he allegedly drove southbound in the northbound lanes of Academy Boulevard Saturday night, then managed to speed onto I-25 with officers in pursuit.

The interstate highway was blocked to prevent crashes, according to police. The incident happened at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The suspect allegedly exited at Nevada Aveue and reentered I-25 at a high rate of speed. The suspect continued southbound on I-25 to Garden of Gods exit. The suspect then exited I-25 at a high rate of speed failed to negoiate the turn, striking the raised median and continued over it into the eastbound lane, striking a second vehicle eastbound on Garden of Gods at the ramp.

Both drivers were transported to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
