COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- On Wednesday, Colorado Springs Police Department and its Internet Crimes Against Children division arrested Barry J. Wilson III, 21, after police were notified that a 14-year-old female had been sexually assaulted by an adult male.
The victim met Wilson in a online chat room and later agreed to meet in person when the assault occurred.
CSPD then conducted a "sting" operation as a result of the incident and located Wilson, using a female detective who portrayed herself online as another 14-year-old.
The detective had arranged to meet Wilson in a park on the west side of Colorado Springs and he was arrested Wednesday at the site without incident. He is being held on $100,000 bond for two counts of sexual assault on a child and one count of Internet luring.
Duing follow-up investigation, it was discovered that Wilson had met previously with and sexually assaulted other juveniles.
Detectives are working to determine the number and identities of these victims.
