PUEBLO, COLO. -- Tuesday night marked three days without water for nearly 100 homes in the Zinno subdivision in Pueblo. The even worse news the Joseph Water Company said it will likely be three more days until water is restored.
Joseph Water Co. said the pipes inside the Zinno Plant exploded on Saturday. On Monday they began repairs, but the wait is contingent on spare parts coming in as well as the nature of this extreme of a repair process.
St. Charles Mesa is offering their water supply to the Zinno system until the water is restored, but that water will only be for filling swamp coolers and flushing toilets. It cannot be used for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth and won't have enough water pressure to be used for showering or watering lawns.
Though area residents said they've had several water outages recently, none have lasted this long.
Residents said the lack of water has forced them to drive to family and/or friends houses-which in some cases are in other cities-to shower before work. Residents who aren't eating out have to bring water in just to do dishes and cook at home, a necessity for some with serious health conditions.
