GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause of a construction site accident that killed a man in a new Grand Junction subdivision.

Police say 21-year-old Daniel Cleveland of Grand Junction was wrking in a trench about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday when a 30-inch cncrete pipe next to the trench rolled in on top of him.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It's unclear what caused the pipe to roll. Police spokeswoman Kate Porras says the pipe was on the ground at the time.

Sneddon Construction owner Max Sneddon says a piece of heavy equipment may have hit the pipe.

Grand Junction Fire Department Battalion Chief Rob Ferguson says workers were laying a storm drain system at the housing development when the accident occurred.
