OMAHA, NEB. (AP) -- Omaha-based Gordmans has been bought by an arm of the private investment firm Sun Capital Partners.

The deal was announced this week by both privately held companies. Terms were not disclosed.

Gordmans was founded in 1915 and says it has grown to 65 stores in 16 states, including five stores in Colorado.

Its wares include clothing, footwear, home decor, gifts, designer fragrances and furniture.

CEO Jeff Gordman says in a company news release that the acquisition will provide Gordmans with capital and retail experience that will help Gordmans "fully realize and accelerate" its growth potential.

Sun Capital Partners' head office is in Boca Raton, Florida. It says it has invested in and managed more than 200 companies worldwide.

Sun Capital's interests include Golden (Colorado)-based Boston Market, as well as companies like Bruegger's Bagels, Chrysler, Dale and Thomas Popcorn, Fazoli's, and Souper Salad.
