With Gustav inland, cleanup and rebuilding will be a big concern.

The Pikes Peak American Red Cross has actually been preparing since last Wednesday. Altogether, the Red Cross plans to send about three thousand volunteers, each serving for three weeks at a time.

Jennifer Mariano with the Pikes Peak Region American Red Cross says that 10 local volunteers have been sent out so far. That's the most in the state as of Monday.

Volunteers will be in staging areas to help the evacuees in Alabama, Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas.

"What we're providing now is that they have basic needs, that they have a safe, warm place to stay, that we're giving them food, that they have emotional support," says Mariano.

In preparation for the hurricane, about 2 million people were evacuated. This means cleanup and recovery will really get going when the residents return.

The Red Cross is always in need of support. To make a monetary donation, visit their website at http://www.pparc.org/donations/donation.php or call them at 719-785-2770.

Donations can also be made in person at 1040 S. 8th Street in Colorado Springs.
