DENVER (AP) -- Anti-immigration activists have gathered in Denver to promote border security at the Democratic National convention, worried that the issue has fallen off voters' minds as the economy becomes a top concern.

Activists planned a daylong rally in a Denver park on Monday to urge Democratic nominee-to-be Barack Obama to make border security a stronger part of his campaign. Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr of Georgia and Republican congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado have agreed to speak. Tancredo made immigration the cornerstone of a brief run for president last year.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps plans a similar rally in Minnesota next week for the Republican National Convention.

Thank you Tom Tancredo!

Tom Tancredo should be the Presidential nominee from the Republican Party. McCain has done NOTHING to secure our borders and we all know he and Obama think alike on this issue! Thank you, Tom Tancredo, for your service to this country, for starting the fight against illegal immigration and for continuing the fight! In a few years, LEGAL American citizens will wish they had listened to and supported Tanc!

Anti-immigration?

Certainly you meant to say anti-illegal immigration activists, and not the clearly biased title that was used?

I'm not aware of any significant activism against legal immigration, although overwhelmingly, America's Citizens oppose illegal immigration, and are supportive of securing our border and enforcing our immigration laws. It is surprising that certain media outlets seem to be working to usurp the will of America's Citizens on this issue.

Indeed, my experience with Democrats in Texas indicates that they and Republicans are not dissimilar in their views on this issue. One need only take a look at the various "state platforms" prior to the national convention to realize that it was DNC leaders conscious efforts to keep this issue off the "national platform", and usurp the will of constituents that ultimately prevailed.

It's disappointing that the news media is complicit with the political parties in mischaracterizing and misrepresenting the will of the people on this issue! Doubtless this is because there are no valid arguments, and no justification for illegal immigration or amnesty. The argument in favor of unconstrained immigration cannot be won on its merits, thus the pro-illegal minority depend on emotion, rather than pragmatism!

Build it higher so that they break their legs when crossing over to the other side. And add barbed or razor wire too.
