Each November, the Briargate YMCA stretches its legs for the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.  It's a 3.1 mile race through the Briargate neighborhood.  If you're thinking about joining the flock or starting a running routine in general, Beverly Carver, an instructor at the YMCA was on the FOX21 Morning News with some tips on getting started. Some of those tips include:

- Make sure you are able to walk the distance before attempting to run it.

- Get used to the terrain.

- Start "interval training" (i.e. sprint then run and repeat)

- Train on equipment that moves your legs such as elliptical machines or stair steppers.

- Stretch frequently!

The annual Turkey Trot will be on November 26 (Thanksgiving Day).  5K starts at 9:00 A.M.  Kids Fun Run at 8:15 A.M. There is a $25 fee. For more information log on to www.ppymca.org.
